I work with nonfiction publishers and authors to create elegant, precise, and user-friendly back-of-the-book indexes. This includes scholarly works, textbooks, and trade books in a broad range of subjects, as well as trade books and textbooks for children and teens.
Please see the list below for subject area specializations.
The indexes I create can be submitted to the publisher in any format, separate or embedded. I'm skilled at creating embedded indexes in formats including but not limited to Word, InDesign, XML, and ePub.
No AI is used in the making of your index.

Thanks for all your work on this. I really appreciate the detail, comprehensiveness, and clear organization of the indexing you’ve produced for my book.

An index! It's like Alyssa decoded my brain and organized it in a way that I could never in a million years see from the inside of the chaos. She is professional, responsive, deadline-oriented, and an absolute delight.

Just a quick note to say a heartfelt thank you for your beautiful work on the index. I'm really impressed by how thoroughly and thoughtfully you gathered the themes — it has created such an accessible, teacher-friendly resource, which is exactly what I was hoping for. I can also see the level of research and care that went into this. The cross-referencing, the way the themes are grouped, and the balance across all sections show such attention to detail. No entry feels sparse, which I know must be incredibly challenging to achieve from your end. The whole index reads as clear, polished, and genuinely usable.

Many thanks for indexing my workbooks. Before I found you, I noticed that textbooks often got negative reviews for not including an index. I thought how hard could it be? So I gave it a shot and assembled an index for one of my four workbooks. When I compared it to the index you generated, I discovered how far out of my depth I was. It was very refreshing to work with someone so professional, responsive, skilled, and reasonably priced.

My rates are competitive with industry standards.
The exact rate depends on the complexity and density of indexing required per page (trade books cost less than scholarly works; scholarly works cost less than medical textbooks, for example). For that reason, I do need to see a draft of your book to be able to provide an accurate estimate.
To request an estimate, please contact me using the form below, which prompts you to provide:
Your book's topic and intended audience
Estimated word count
A draft of your book (or introduction + two sample chapters)
Projected timeline
